Dairy Queen Canada Skor Blizzard

Yes, you read that correctly. While in Canada, I got a Skor Blizzard. Pre-ice cream blog days, Madeline went to Morocco and got a Toblerone McFlurry and ever since I have always wanted to go to a fast food joint in another country to see what exciting ice cream treats they have on their menu. Also, whenever I teach about globalization, my international students love to tell the American students how different fast food restuarants are in the countries they are from. For example, in many other places, Pizza Hut is a much nicer restaurant than it is in the US. Who knew! So when I spotted a DQ in the student center at the University of Calgary, I knew I would have to check it out. On the last day of the conference, me and a couple of other graduate students decided we needed a break and decided to hang out and get some DQ!

This is a small Blizzard, which I think is the absolute best size. Not toe big, not too little. There are one or two sizes smaller and large than this guy. 

For those of you that are lame and don't know everything about all desserts ever, Skor is a toffee bar covered in milk chocolate. So it is similar to a Heath bar, but it is a bit thicker, so you get a higher toffee to chocolate ratio. Granted you can get a Heath Blizzard in the US, so this isn't that excited, but I can pretend I'm cool.

Now for the ice cream. If I could have one wish in the world, it would probably be world peace, but if I were given a lot of wishes, eventually we would get far enough down on the list and we would come to bigger chunks in DQ Blizzards! There are plenty of candy bits in Blizzards, but they are always sooo small. It is almost more like candy dust with a few bigger chunks, When I got a couple bigger chunks, I could tell this was Skor, not Heath, because there were more gritty toffee pieces. And while I wanted more big chunks, and the little candy bits did give the whole treat the overall flavor of toffee.

With the DQ Blizzard menu getting so exciting these days, with the new Royal Blizzards and the Blizzard of the month being cotton candy, I wouldn't but this treat again over something else on the menu. Thus 🍦🍦/4 cones!
