Oh, Steve's, I really want to love you, but I just don't.  Before I launch into a rant about this brand, I want to say that I've not tried any of Steve's dairy-free flavors, which are apparently pretty good.  In fact, Lizzy crowned Steve's non-dairy Speculoos Cookie Butter as the best non-dairy flavor of 2015. Non-dairy flavors aside, I have been completely disappointed by Steven's dairy ice cream.  It should have everything going for it.  Steve's has a great range of flavors; from standards to more unique creations.  They have super cute packaging (I am a sucker for nice packaging).  They have delicious sounding mix-ins.  Yet somehow this comes together in a sub-par product. I recently tried Blackberry Crumble, described as Blackberry cobbler meets rich vanilla ice cream in a classic pairing. I arrived back at my parents' house two days ago and Madeline will arrive home in a few days. My parents have this whole ice cream deal figured out now, and there were two different kinds of ice cream in the freezer for my arrival. The first I tried was Sam's Choice Blackberry Crumble. This is the first flavor of Sam's Choice ice cream I've tried. Madeline has enjoyed this flavor and the Coffee and Donuts, so I was excited to try it. The container size is a quart. Because sometimes you have to share your ice cream. This flavor is described as Blackberry Ice Cream with Pie Crust Pieces and Blackberry Ripple . So when I think about a fruit crumble, I think about an oat, brown sugar topping. This ice cream obviously does not have such a topping, but I'm keeping an open mind. Today I have a review of Sam's Choice Blackberry Crumble.  Sam's Choice is a Wal-Mart brand so obviously only available at Wal-Mart.  After really enjoying the Coffee and Donuts flavor last year, I have been meaning to go try out some other flavors in the line, but am just now getting around to it. Blackberry Crumble is described as Blackberry ice cream with Pie Crust Pieces and Blackberry Ripple. The blackberry base was very good.  Actual blackberries can be pretty tart and in-your-face, but this base shied away from that aspect of the flavor and went with a sweeter vibe.  I think it actually tasted like a 'mixed berries' flavor where blackberries are a large percentage of the mixture.  I'm a fan of bold, extreme flavors, so I would have liked this to be a bit more blam-pow-I'm-a-blackberry! but I think most people will enjoy the base as-is.
