Edy's Cake and Cookie Fantasy Frozen Yogurt

Image
I want to jump right in to the description of Edy's Cake and Cookie Fantasy Frozen Yogurt: Red velvet and sugar cookie frozen yogurt swirled together with decadent cookie dough pieces and chocolate cookie crumbles. I mean, just, what is going on here? This sounds like a snack drunk, college Madeline would have concocted. I was pretty skeptical of the red velvet and sugar cookie combo. Red Velvet is a dark, rich, chocolate decadence, and sugar cookies are sweet and light. Together they tasted like those ridiculous delicious/disgusting grocery store frosted sugar cookies with icing attempting to be red velvet-flavored. Obviously, this flavor was over-the-top sugary, but I think it would have worked with a rich ice cream base instead of a yogurt base. Despite the sweetness, the tartness of the yogurt came through but didn't really blend  with the sugar. I kept getting random blasts of tartness through the sugary background. The sugar cookie mix-ins tasted like ...

Thelma's Treats Sugar Cookie Coffee NEW for 2017

Image
Y'ALL it's time for NEW for 2017 ice cream yayayayayay! The HyVee by my house must have just gotten in a major ice cream order because of this week they've got ALLLLL the new stuff. So buckle up kids it's time for new stuff! I was super pumped to see Thelma's released a bunch of new flavors, including this one. Also Thelma's is now sold in ALL HyVee's around the Midwest, so hopefully some delicious ice cream sandwiches will be coming soon to a grocery store near you. Can you tell that it's spring break? I've been chilling on my couch playing major catch up with all of my reviews. This treat features sugar cookies and coffee ice cream. Thelma's has a very sweet sugar cookie. It also tasted more cookie-y than other sugar cookies, if that makes any sense. Which it doesn't. The cookies also very moist, as per usual for Thelma's. The coffee ice cream is new to Thelma's, I don't think it was featured in any of their older fl...

Market Pantry Frosted Sugar Cookie

Image
I totally forgot to check whether or not any of Target's in-house brands had seasonal offerings this winter!  Better late than never, though!  I picked up 2 out of the 3 seasonal Market Pantry flavors I saw: Frosted Sugar Cookie and Peppermint Neapolitan.  The other was Triple Berry Cobbler, which does not exactly scream 'HOLIDAYS! WINTER!" to me, so I skipped it.  Sorry I'm not sorry. I have a review of Frosted Sugar Cookie today.  This is described as Artifically flavored vanilla ice cream with sugar cookie pieces and red sprinkles swirled with red frosting. There must be some rule requiring the description 'artificially flavored vanilla ice cream' if the ice cream is artificially flavored.  Otherwise it seems weird to me that they would start their description this way. The description was a rocky start for this ice cream, but it was better than it's first impressions.  It wasn't phenomenal but it was pretty decent, especially for the p...

Iowa Ice Cream EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

Image
Ice cream is best served in EXTRAVAGANZA form. And when you put me and Madeline in the same city for more than one day (which doesn't happen nearly enough and not just for ice cream reasons), there is bound to be an ice cream EXTRAVAGANZA!! This past weekend, Madeline came to visit me in Iowa City. I haven't lived here long, and I basically never go out, but I was at least more than capable of showcasing the best ice cream in Iowa City (and Iowa, in general).  Madeline was here for Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday through mid afternoon, so there are obviously three parts to this mega-post. Part 1: Yotopia Okay, yes, we should have called this a frozen dairy dessert EXTRAVAGANZA, but that doesn't roll off the tongue quite like Iowa Ice Cream EXTRAVAGANZA! (Lets play a game. How many times can I write EXTRAVAGANZA IN ALL CAPS before I alienate all of our Dearest Readers??) (Madeline's note: at leas 10,000 times.) But Yotopia is such a central fixture to Iowa Ci...

Izzy's Chubby Bunny and Tiny Ice Cream

Image
Saturday was National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, and I obviously really wanted to go out and get ice cream for breakfast.  I'm was sure  that there would me an ice cream parlor somewhere  in the twin cities holding an event for breakfast.  I mean Lizzy had 3 events in St. Louis to choose from.  Unfortunately, Minneapolis really dropped the ball on Ice Cream for Breakfast day.  No special hours, nothing.  I decided I still wanted to get ice cream, and could celebrate the day by having ice cream for breakfast-for-dinner.  It's a stretch, but whatever. I also want to mention something really cool that Izzy's is doing for the first part of February.  Each day for the first 13 days of February, Izzy's will donate $2 from each single scoop cup or cone purchased to a different charity each day as part of their  13 days of giving .  They also give you a coupon for $2 off a pizza at a local pizza parlor which is awesome.  My purcha...
