Clementine's Naughty and Nice Creamery

Image
I have been so excited for winter break because winter break is always full of hanging out with Madeline and eating lots of ice cream! It also means hanging out in the best city ever, St. Louis! The ice cream Renaissance of St. Louis, which started about two years ago, continued this May with the opening of Clementine's Naughty and Nice Creamery in the Lafayette Square area. Right before the brick and mortar scoop shop opened, I tried 6 different pints of Clementine's ice cream and loved them! I've been super excited to take Madeline to Clementine's ever since then! Right before I flew to Boston to visit Brett, Madeline and I stopped by Clementine's. There was no one else in the shop when we were there, so we took our time and sampled quite a few flavors before making our decisions. Knowing the portions are pretty small, both Madeline and I ordered three scoops. The flavors I ordered were Lemongrass Coconut, Salted Crack Caramel, and Peppermint Bark. The Peppermi...

Clementine's Gooey Butter Cake

The quest to find the best Gooey Butter Cake ice cream in St. Louis continues. As you know from my first post about Clementine's ice cream, gooey butter cake is one of the few ingredients that they do not make on their own from scratch for their ice cream, because Park Avenue Coffee has the best gooey butter cake in the world. Clementine's is smart. Don't fix what isn't broken. And I wasn't kidding with that best in the world bit. They won the Food Network's Gooey Butter Cake Food Feud and according to Iron Chef Michael Symon this is the best gooey butter cake in America. And since no one does junk food quite like America, I am going to take a guess that the best cake+extra butter in America is also the best in the world. One last fact about Park Avenue Coffee's gooey butter cake before I start the review, they sell 76 flavors of gooey butter cake! Which is unreal. Now I want to try them all, but I'm moving out of Missouri soon. So sad. And I think if I ...

Pre Marathon Ice Cream: Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream Gooey Butter Cake and White Chocolate

Image
A few days before I raced the Go! St. Louis Marathon I raised quite the social media hubbub by asking for suggestions on what ice cream I should eat the day before. The suggestions were FroYo (kinda lame because that's not ice cream), Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (not actually open in St. Louis yet), Clementine's Ice Cream (also not actually open yet), Fritz's Frozen Custard (also not ice cream but a more than acceptable suggestion), and Mr. Wizard's Frozen Custard. I also had two flavor suggestions, peanut butter dark chocolate and coffee. I ended up being a jerk (sorta sorry but not really) and not really taking any of those suggestions. A friend texted me her suggestion, instead of commenting on the post, which was Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream. I ended up staying at my parents' house that weekend, instead of my boyfriend's, because he got really sick. I had to go to the marathon expo to pick up my bib, and Serendipity was right on the way from my parent...
