FoMu Take Two!

Image
No you are not experiencing deja vu! But yes I did post about FoMu quite recently. I stopped at the Cambridge FoMu pop up shop a few weeks ago when passing through Boston to my second research location of the summer. Luckily, I passed through Boston again on my way home! The pop up shop is also located next door to a super tasty vegetarian fast/casual restaurant with a couple locations in Boston. I obviously was stopping their for dinner, and decided to grab some FoMu for the walk back! The first flavor that caught my eye was called Magic Bar. It is described as Coconut ice cream, shaved coconut, dark chocolate pieces, pecans, crumbled oats. I was pretty excited by the prospect of basically a coconut squared flavor, so decided to try the Magic Bar. I decided to mix it up a bit with my second flavor and get something fruity, since I hadn't tried a fruity offering from FoMu yet. Haagen-Dazs Artisan Collection Chocolate Caramelized Oat Ice Cream

We get all of the food groups over here at the Big Muddy. Get your veggies from Clementine's Southern Sweet Corn, your whole grain from this Haagen-Dazs Artisan Collection, and your dairy, obviously. Further proof my freezer sucks. The description of the flavor reads: We are proud to collaborate with San Fransisco's Clairesquares to make a truly unique ice cream inspired by her Irish treats. However, we are well rounded people over here at Big Muddy and I'm gonna say it right out. These are not squares, they are rectangular prisms. Admit it, you were thinking it. This object looks pretty three dimensional to me The base of this ice cream is a sweet, complex caramel with a hint of salt.  As Madeline said in her review , it is nice we are seeing a return to normal caram...

Haagen-Dazs Artisan Collection Chocolate Caramelized Oat Ice Cream

During my recent binge purchase of ice cream I picked up a pint of Haagen-Dazs Artisan Collection Chocolate Caramelized Oat Ice Cream.  You Guys! After this I only have two more flavors from this line to try: Banana Rum Jam and Applewood Smoked Caramel Almond. This flavor is a collaboration with  Clairesquares  a San Francisco bakery specializing in Irish desserts.  Haagen-Dazs describes this ice cream as We are proud to collaborate with with San Francisco's Clairesquares to make a truly unique ice cream inspired by her Irish treats.  Together we take chocolaty, caramelized oat clusters and mix them into rich caramel ice cream. To be honest, when I first tried this ice cream I was underwhelmed.  I thought it was ok, but didn't really hold its own against the other Artisan Collection flavors I had previously tried.  My opinion did improve a bit on my second bowl of this ice cream. The caramel base was a sweet, light caramel that reminded m...
