Great Value O'Chunka Chocolate Ice Cream Cone

Image
Although it's still listed on Walmart's website, Sam's Choice Ice Cream seems to be no more, at least at my Walmart, but there are some interesting new released under the Great Value Brand including some new ice cream flavors as well as some new treats, including the O'Chunka Chocolate Ice Cream Cones, rich and chunky chocolate chip cookie dough mixed with super velvety chocolate brownie dough, nestled in vanilla ice cream side-by-side with chocolate ice cream and coated in chocolate flavored coating in a sugar cone. What is up with that name? Is it trying to be Irish? I don't exactly associate ice cream with Ireland. Some of the other new flavors and treats also had pretty weird names, but not ~fun~ weird or ~whimsical~ weird. Just weird. These cones would have been great had they been manufactured by Ben and Jerry's, and cost more per box, but as they were, it felt like Great Value was kind of skimping on the mix-ins. The cones are slightly smalle...

Haagen-Dazs Caramel Cone

Image
It is hard to believe it has taken me this long to get around to reviewing two of my all-time favorite Haagen-Dazs flavors. Way back in the day, aka my freshman and sophomore years of college, the little grocery store, Paws-n-go, in the main Wash U dining hall, sold the faux-pints of Haagen-Dazs. (In case you have forgotten, because I don't think Madeline and I remind you enough, Haagen-Dazs containers that look like pints are actually 14ozs). Splitting a Haagen-Dazs with someone was pretty standard for after a tough exam, or a even a long day. During this time of my life, I discovered Haagen-Dazs White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle and Caramel Cone. I probably ate these flavors so frequently those two years that it has taken me a while to get excited about them again.  After purchasing White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle not long ago, my relationship with these Haagen-Dazs classics was rekindled. So now for a review of Caramel Cone. This flavor is described as A crea...

Central Dairy: Extreme Chocolate and Bear Claw

Image
Madeline came to visit me in Eldon! How exciting. What is more exciting however, is while she was here we took the trip up to Jefferson City to get some ice cream at Central Dairy. As one would expect, when we arrived the line was out the door of the shop and a ways down the block. Luckily the line moved quickly and we were not kept from our ice cream for long. We made the trip on June 7th, which was National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Naturally I decided to get two chocolate flavors. The second flavor I order, thus the flavor they put on top, so the first flavor I ate and the first I will review was Extreme Chocolate. I was a little disappointed they did not spell the name of this flavor as Xtreme Chocolate, but you can't have everything. The description of this flavor on the website reads A rich dark chocolate ice cream . Back when I reviewed Jeni's Dark Chocolate flavor, I discussed the use of cocoa powder to make an ice cream a dark chocolate flavor. I didn't lo...
