Blue Bell Ice Cream Sandwich

People are obsessed with Blue Bell. "Blue Bell is all that is good in life" -Chris Beyer "Well over half the calories I've consumed in my 22 5/6 years have been Blue Bell, and it has been the font from which my success and happiness have sprung" -Elliott Peterson "Blue Bell is everything" -Chris Beyer "I was raised on this." -Elliott Peterson "Seriously, my parents never fed me anything else" -Elliott Peterson Okay statement rescinded. My friends Chris and Elliott are obsessed with Blue Bell. I have been reviewing a lot of Blue Bell lately for a few reasons. One, they have really awesome and unique flavors for being so cheap, and they sell in pints, which is pretty unique for brands at their price point. Two, I will be moving to Iowa next year and you can't buy Blue Bell in Iowa! Three, I get lots of imaginary internet points when I review Blue Bell. I have had these ice cream sandwiches in my freezer for a w...

Reader Request AND Throw Down: Blue Bell and Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Image
This reader request is a long time coming. A while ago a friend of mine from high school suggested I review Blue Bell's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. With all of the new flavors being released by companies since the start of 2015 has caused me to get behind on other flavors. But here it is. On Monday, I was still in major calorie debt from running the Go! St. Louis Marathon the day before, so I knew I needed to sit down and eat at least half a pint of high butterfat ice cream. What would be a better choice than Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough? After Madeline did her Blood Orange Throw Down I thought I would copy the idea! Double the ice cream reviewing means double the fun!! And double the exclamation points!!!!   Before we start: Ben & Jerry's introduced the flavor Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough to the world in 1984. Yes they were THE first to put cookie dough in ice cream. Thank goodness they did this because if they had not I would have significantly...

Blue Bell: Strawberries & Homemade Vanilla

Image
Happy National Strawberry Ice Cream Day!! Now I know not everyone is a fan of these sort of arbitrary food holidays, but I am trying to use them as an opportunity to eat ice cream outside of what I normally eat. Not that I don't like strawberry ice cream, but I would not call myself a connoisseur like Madeline would and I would probably choose cookie dough or something over strawberry ice cream. I also have been wanting to try another flavor of Blue Bell after my review of their Old Fashioned Malt Shoppe was so popular. This flavor is described as Our famous Homemade Vanilla ice cream blended with juicy ripe strawberries.  So random notes about Blue Bell. I absolutely love their packaging. I honestly bought this pint over the Haagen Dazs Strawberry because the packaging was so pretty. Also Madeline has already reviewed the Haagen Dazs Strawberry flavor. When I opened this pint I saw a light pink, fluffy looking ice cream with bits of strawberry poking through. This ...

Blue Bell: Old Fashioned Malt Shoppe

Yesterday, I decided to go to Paul's, the grocery store in Eldon that I don't like as much, because I was just looking for something different in my ice cream selection. Paul's does have a bigger ice cream selection than Gerbe's, but I have to say after going there yesterday, that I don't think it is a better selection. They have the same or maybe even less Ben & Jerry's than Gerbe's and NO Haagen Dazs. However, they did have Blue Bell, an ice cream brand I have seen around in stores and on various ice cream blogs. It kind of surprises me that I have never tried Blue Bell before. They are the 3rd best selling ice cream brand in America, behind only Breyers and Edy's/Dreyer's! And that is despite the fact that they only sell in 23 states!! And yes those are mostly "Southern" states. I have "southern" in quotes because I refuse to admit that Missouri is in the South. Missourah might be, but that's a different story. The...
