Cree Mee Drive In Banana Split

Image
In the winter I tried Eldon Drive-In's banana split. In the ultimate quest to decide which drive in joint serves better ice cream, I had to try Cree Mee's banana split. The first and most important difference between Cree Mee's banana split and Eldon Drive-In's is at Cree Mee you customize your own banana split. They serve it with any three sauces you pick from their list. I decided on marshmallow, hot fudge, and raspberry. If you don't like an element of Eldon Drive-In's banana split, well too bad. I like pineapple topping, which is on the Eldon Drive-In banana split, but I don't love it, biasing me toward Cree Mee. On the other hand, at Cree Mee, as T.I. tells us, "you can have whatever you like." The second major difference is the size. Eldon Drive-Ins was much bigger. So much bigger, the last few bites weren't enjoyable. Cree Mee's was much more manageable. But I will admit, sometimes you need a massive banana split. In tha...

Reader Request: Eldon Drive-In Banana Split

Image
This one has been on my Eldon bucket list for a while now. I have heard from many people in Eldon that I had to get a Eldon Drive-In banana split and review it. I had also been told that if I get one of these I should split it with some one. Haha split a banana split. Ha. Ha. However, I would never. Because I care about you guys, my Dearest Readers. I want to give you guys the most accurate picture of the full experience of the Eldon Drive-In banana split. And if that is me feeling like I am going to vom, or actually voming, than so be it. I would not be able to consider myself a respectable ice cream blogger if I didn't eat every last bite of this banana split. I wouldn't throughly be able to comment on the size if I didn't eat the whole thing. I was also pretty confident I could eat the whole thing no problemo. I ate a light dinner that night and I have years of ice cream eating experience to rely on. Trust in your training. Granted, I think my friend Claire would...

Eldon Drive-In: Chocolate Malt

Image
Okay, back in August when I reviewed Cree Mee Drive-In's chocolate malt, I said a review of Eldon Drive-In's chocolate malt would be coming soon. I liieeed. Unless you are thinking of time in the grand scheme of the universe then this isn't really soon after my Cree Mee review. But better late than never. I also stopped at Eldon Drive-In before hitting the road back to St. Louis a few weekends ago. Here's my review and my official decision of which place has the better chocolate malt will be at the end of this review so get excited!! I took this picture from inside my car and I have to say I felt super creepy while doing it. I don't remember the price of the small chocolate malt I got at Eldon Drive-In, but I do not think it was significantly different than Cree Mee. They were also similar in size. However, Eldon Drive-In did  serve their malt in a paper cup, not styrofoam, like Cree Mee. Much better for the environment. Eating ice cream is way more ...

Cree Mee Drive In

Image
I have been living in Eldon for 3 weeks now, and I'm sure you have all been anxiously awaiting my first review of an ice cream shop in Eldon. There are two places to get your cold, sweet tooth fix. The Eldon Drive In and Cree Mee Drive In. Throughout this year I will attempt to decide, although I doubt it will be possible, which drive in is better, especially in the ice cream department. This past Friday, as I drove home to St. Louis for the first time since moving here, I stopped at Cree Mee on my way out of town for a pre-road trip pick-me-up. Before I even went there, Cree Mee, in my opinion, had two points over Eldon Drive In in the epic drive-in battle; the appearance and the name. Cree Mee is essentially a big red barn. It is so adorable. Eldon Drive In is just an orange building, not nearly as cute. Also I just cannot get over the spelling of Cree Mee; I seriously love it. And how boring is Eldon Drive In? That would be like naming your off-spring "Child". You didn...

Central Dairy Tiger Tracks

Image
Wowowow. Madeline has been BUSY with her ice cream eating. I have been slacking, I know, I know. But I DO have an explanation. Just over a week ago I moved to Eldon, Missouri, where I will be serving in AmeriCorps for the year. Eldon is not too far south of Jefferson City. For those of you that know your Missouri ice cream, you know that Jefferson City is home to the legendary of Central Dairy. Missouri State Track and Cross Country meets are also located in Jeff City, and every time I attend one (though I managed to attend several, but never race in a meet #datalternatelyfe) we got a trip to Central Dairy before driving home to Fenton. I have many a fond memory of Central Dairy, but I honestly don't think I have been since high school, which is frighteningly long ago. One of the things I was most excited about in moving to Eldon was being close to Central Dairy. I was even guessing I would be able to buy it at my local grocery store. And I was! On my first trip to Gerbe's, j...
