Magnum: Milk Chocolate Hazelnut PINT

Image
Dearest Readers, I am coming back from sabbatical with a BANG. Yes, I am calling my break from blogging a sabbatical because it makes me feel ~fancy~ and YES I already got my hands on one of the newly-released-in-the-US Magnum pints! These have been out in Europe for a while now and they are finally here in the US! I haven't had a good hazelnut ice cream in a while, so that is the flavor I chose first. This flavor is described as Chocolate hazelnut ice cream, hazelnuts, and milk chocolate shards in a cracking milk chocolate shell with more hazelnuts. The whole deal with these pints is they are supposed to be like a Magnum bar in pint form. And by pint form I mean slightly-less-than-15-ounces form. There is a layer of hard chocolate on the top and a layer of chocolate surrounding the inside of the pint. You are supposed to wait a few minutes then squeeze the sides of the container to crack the shell. The chocolate on top is definitely hard to break with your spoon with...

Haagen-Dazs TRIO Triple Chocolate Ice Cream

Image
When I first heard about the new Haagen-Dazs Trio flavors, I thought they sounded kind of gimmicky. The trio flavors are layers of two different ice cream flavors and crispy Belgian chocolate. But then one of my roommates got a pint before I did, and I asked her what she thought. She emphatically said it was good, so my expectations went up. There are three other Trio flavors, a salted caramel, coffee, and blackberry flavor. My HyVee had all but the blackberry, but just a classic triple chocolate sounded the most delicious the other day when I picked up this flavor. The triple chocolate is described as Layers of crispy Belgian chocolate, white & milk chocolate ice cream. Something weird happened in shipping I think. My first impression of this flavor was not good. It must have melted and refrozen a bit somewhere along the line, so the top looked very weird. However, after that first layer this flavor was pure bliss. The milk chocolate ice cream was both super milk and...

Talenti Belgian Milk Chocolate

Image
THE SEMESTER IS FINALLY OVER! Finally. It was just one thing after another since the beginning of September with an extra serving of crap at the end, and it's all finally done!  For me, that means back to blogging more regularly and generally being an actual, real, functioning human person. Talenti's Belgian Milk gelato is my first foray back into the blogging world.  Belgian Milk Chocolate is Hand-melted, imported Belgian milk chocolate blended until smooth with fresh milk, cream, eggs and a hint of vanilla. It's totally acceptable for you to become best friends with this pint. What even is hand-melted chocolate.  I can't help but imagine very sticky factory workers rolling big balls of chocolate between their palms.  I'm sure it really means that they have someone supervising and stirring a big vat of chocolate, but the image was too hilarious to keep to myself. I would describe Belgian Milk Chocolate as a chocolate and sugar gelato.  As a dark...

New Orleans Ice Cream Company Po'Boy Ice Cream Sandwiches

Image
There's been quite a lot of hype over here as of late over all the awesome New Orleans ice cream flavors. However, we cannot forget the ice cream sandwiches they sent me. Madeline and I are both not very good about reviewing ice cream treats, like sandwiches and bars. The main reason? They're usually not big enough. I usually eat an ice cream treat and feel the need to eat a couple of cookies or something to top it off. But lots of ice cream companies have been upping their treat game, so Madeline and I were excited to try these Po'Boys. I, personally, am also much more excited about this ice cream version of a Po'Boy, as a standard Po'Boy is a sandwich made with some kind of meat (gross) served on French bread. New Orleans sent me 4 total, two each of two flavors, Vanilla Bean and Creole Cream Cheese. They are both described as All Natural Ultra Premium Ice Cream, Chocolate Cookie Sandwich Dipped in Milk Chocolate . Lizzy's take: Creole Cre...

Talenti: Belgian Milk Chocolate

Image
Like the last weekend I spent in St. Louis, on my birthday weekend Brett and I were obviously splitting another pint on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  We went to a different Schunck's in my seemingly never ending hunt for some of the new Ben & Jerry's flavors. We didn't find any so I kinda felt stumped on what flavor to buy. At first I was thinking a Haagen Dazs Tiramisu Gelato, but Brett wasn't feeling it. Since he was going to eat half the pint I guess it would be courteous for me to listen to his opinion. So we bought a pint of Talenti Belgian Milk Chocolate. Although it wasn't totally what I was craving, it's okay because I'm trying to keep my room clean and organized. No I'm not trying to confuse you, Dearest Reader. If you've had Talenti you know that it comes in awesome clear plastic containers with screw on tops. The kind of containers that are perfect for storing things and knick knacks and stuff! I currently have all my things and knic...

Magnum Double Caramel

Image
I know, of all the ice cream bars out there in the world I could review I review another Magnum. My really devoted reader(s) (my mom may in reality be the only person I could consider a devoted reader of this blog) will notice that I have been trying to review a wider variety of ice creams and ice cream products. The beginning of the blog was a little Ben and Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs crazy, admittedly and I'm trying to do better. And to be honest, the day I bought these bars, I really really wasn't trying to buy ice cream that day. It wasn't on my grocery list, it really wasn't. Like, I am one of those people that makes lists for the sake of the sense of satisfaction of crossing things off the list. And if ice cream isn't on my grocery list, what satisfaction would I get from buying it?! None!! BUT! As I wandered down the aisles at Gerbe's, a sign of the goodness of this planet appeared. A coupon dispenser of coupons for $1 of a box of Magnum bars!! A light...
