Look at me go, I'm going to keep my Blizzard of the Month streak alive with only one day left in July.  I spent the first three weeks of July in Utah, and while I did have access to a DQ, I spent most of my time indulging in local brands and scoop shops. Now that I'm back in Minnesota, I have time to go to DQ so I stopped in on my first day back at the office. The July Blizzard is M&Ms Peanut Butter Monster Cookie, described as The M&Ms Peanut Butter Monster Cookie Blizzard Treat is filled with a monstrous combination of peanut butter cookies, M&Ms, choco-chunks, peanut butter topping, and world-famous vanilla soft serve. Apparently  Monster Cookies  are a thing  that I totally missed out on until about a year ago. From the description, this Blizzard should have been awesome, but I found it pretty 'meh.' It just felt like a bunch of different stuff thrown into soft-serve, and the elements didn't really complement each other or go together in...

Dairy Queen's Cotton Candy Blizzard has a substantial fan base, and DQ brings the flavor back every once in a while.  I missed last year the last time it was a Blizzard of the Month.  I think DQ has had this on the menu more recently for some sort of promotion, but I missed it then too so this is actually my FIRST time trying the fan-favorite Cotton Candy Blizzard!  This Blizzard is Cotton candy and sprinkles blended with creamy vanilla soft serve. In the past I've bemoaned Dairy Queen using only Vanilla soft-serve as a Blizzard base, but it works really well here.  The point of cotton candy ice cream is to be tooth-achingly sweet, and the vanilla ice cream definitely helps the Cotton Candy Blizzard reach that objective. When Dairy Queen announced S'mores and Oreo S'mores as the Blizzards of the Month for April, I was excited and confused.  Excited because a S'mores Blizzard sounds awesome and an Oreo S'mores Blizzard sounds even more awesome, but confused because I definitely think of S'mores as a summer  camping treat.  I guess I can't really think of any 'typically April' flavors that would have been better fitted to this month. I tried the classic S'mores Blizzard first.  This is described as It's back! The S'mores Blizzard treat with mini marshmallow filled chocolate bars, graham cracker pieces, toasted graham and marshmallow topping, and creamy vanilla soft serve. Because St. Patrick's day is in March, of course Dairy Queen's Blizzard of the month is green.  Grasshopper Mousse pie is Cool mint, graham pie crumbles, choco chunks, and whipped topping blended with creamy vanilla soft serve. I nearly had by Blizzard Treat stolen from under my nose, and I should have taken this as a warning not to try Dairy Queen's March Blizzard of the Month.  When I went to Dairy Queen, there was a fairly long line, so after I ordered I went to stand close to the back of the store to be out of the way.  When I heard my order called up I made my way to the front to receive my Blizzard, but some other girl had her hand on my treat! Like, bitch, do you think they skipped eveeerrryyyoooonnnee standing in line to make your Blizzard?  No.  They did not.  Step away from the Blizzard.  (Do not get between me and my ice cream.  I will call you a bitch.) Lizzy has this crazy idea that she wants someone to produce a Red Velvet cake ice cream that is light on the cream cheese flavor.  I think she is insane.  Without cream cheese frosting, Red Velvet cake is just oddly colored chocolate cake.  Booooorring!  If you are part of Lizzy's anti-cream cheese cabal, you will hate this ice cream.  If you are a normal, cream cheese-loving human being, you will love it! Per Dairy Queen the Red Velvet Blizzard is A mix of creamy soft serve, decadent red velvet cake pieces and cream cheese frosting.  So delicious, it's sure to be love at first bite. Before the review, an interesting tidbit from Wikipedia about Red Velvet Cake: " All [red velvet cakes] used red food coloring, but the reaction of acidic vinegar and buttermilk tends to better reveal the red anthocyanin in cocoa and keeps the cake moist, light, and fluffy." Remember waaaaaay back at the end of summer I promised to try every Dairy Queen Blizzard of the month flavor? I bet you were worried when I didn't post a review of a Blizzard-of-the-month for the ENTIRE month of November.  I bet you were raging mad.  Because you have nothing better to do than obsessively read our ice cream blog.  Fear not, dear and loyal readers, the Blizzard-of-the-month for both November and December is Candy Cane Oreo, and I have a review for you today.  Also, this Blizzard fits in perfectly with the avalanche of peppermint flavors I'm reviewing this holiday season! If you remember way back in August, I vowed to review every Dairy Queen Blizzard of the Month Flavor.  And yet .... and yet I didn't review the September flavor.  You might think I broke my promise, but you would be wrong.  Pumpkin Pie was the flavor for both September and October, so I decided to wait October to try it.  October feels more like fall, and it's more fun to eat pumpkin when it feels like fall. Holy Cow.  If you only eat one pumpkin-themed item this fall, put this blizzard on the short list.  It was amazing.  This blizzard is described as Pumpkin pie pieces blended with creamy vanilla soft serve, crowned with whipped topping and nutmeg. I've been eating a lot of Blizzard's lately, but not reviewing them.  From here on out, I will try to actually review the DQ Blizzard's I eat.  On Saturday I stopped by for a Rolo Minis blizzard, the August blizzard of the month.  This is Caramel filled ROLO Minis mixed with caramel topping and creamy vanilla soft serve. Before I review this blizzard, I need to share the first sentence of the wikipedia entry for ROLO candies with you.  I don't think it's enough to just link the page because some of you won't read it.  Here goes: Rolo (pronounced "Row-low", referring to the rolled-style candy is a brand of truncated-cone-shaped or frustum-shaped chocolates with a caramel center, the shape resembling that of a inverted bucket or tub or a traditional lampshade.  Why?
