I am excited about this new Ben and Jerry's non-dairy flavor for two reasons. One is that Coconut Seven Layer Bar is one of my favorite Ben and Jerry's flavors ever, but it's a scoop shop exclusive so I don't have it very often. I'm excited to have a version available in stores. The other is that there was a lot of hype surrounding last year's release of Ben and Jerry's first ever non-dairy flavors, but I didn't think they were very good. I've only tried Coconut Seven Layer Bar, but if this year's other non-dairy flavors are as good, it's definitely an improvement over last year's line. Non-Dairy Coconut Seven Layer Bar is Coconut non-dairy frozen dessert with fudge chunks, walnuts, and swirls of graham cracker and caramel. Ben and Jerry's uses almond milk as their non-dairy base, so the coconut oil provides the coconut flavoring rather than coconut milk (what a missed opportunity!!).  The coconut becomes overwhelming at times...

Wheeee, November is nearly half-way over and I've barely posted any reviews! Grad school ate my liiiiffffeeee! I recently discovered New Barn AlmondCreme, an almond milk-based frozen dessert.  I tried  Cereal and Almond Milk  and wasn't too impressed, but absolutely loved  Sunflower Butter .  I decided I would try Ginger Snap Cookie next because ginger is the best and ginger snaps are especially the best.  New Barn describes Ginger Snap Cookie as Our friends at the amazing Rubicon Bakery in Richmond, CA bake us the most delicious gingersnap cookies which are then crumbled and swirled into each carton. If you're a fan of cookies, we've got you covered. Ginger Snap Cookie was basically a plain almond base with gingersnap cookies mixed in. I recently discovered Almond Creme, The New Barn's line of almond milk ice creams, and I think the brand is a serious contender in the non-dairy scene. Today I have a review of Sunflower Butter, and holy crap, it was amazing.  The New Barn has this to say about the flavor: Our organic Sunflower Butter left our team speechless the first time we tried a bite. It's the right combination of crunchy and nutty flavor, and just the right amount of sweet. We can say with all sincerity that it is nothing short of magical. Enjoy! This is an example of an incredibly simple idea executed extremely well to make a fabulous ice cream. Basically all that's going on here is an almond milk ice cream mixed with sunflower butter with sunflower seeds mixed in. During my last trip to Whole Foods I spotted New Barn Almond Creme ice cream, a new-to-me brand of almond-milk based non-dairy frozen dessert! While I was checking out the cashier gushed about how much she liked New Barn almond milk and was excited to try their new ice cream which in turn made me super excited to try it! Here's the flavor blurb for Cereal and Almond Milk, one of two flavors I purchased: As kids, we loved to slurp the milk at the bottom of the bowl of cereal. It was always the best part. Our Cereal and Almond Milk transports you back to that moment, only this time it's frozen and incredibly delicious. Sounds crazy, tastes amazing! Sooooooooo, I read the description of this and felt a little misled. When I was a kid I definitely liked to slurp the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl, but really only with sweet 'kid' cereals, so I thought the 'cereal' part of cereal and milk would be something ridiculous like Froot Loops, but...

The worst part about going away for the summer is leaving behind all the ice cream you didn't get around to before you left. Or at least that's the worst part for me! Luckily, the best part is coming back to all that ice cream. So much anticipation! Wow Madeline and I are literally turning into the same person.
