Milkjam Creamery

Image
I've been a terrible ice cream blogger.  I finally got out to  Milkjam Creamery , the new and hip Minneapolis ice cream spot 5 MONTHS after it opened.  Whoops.  I was out to dinner with (approximately) my office-mates in the neighborhood, and we decided to stop by Milkjam after dinner. Before even seeing the flavors on offer that night, I decided I would get Milkjam's signature flavor, Milkjam.  This flavor is Caramelized goat, cow, and condensed milks. Apparently Milk Jam is a real thing and is either a different name for or a variant of dulce de leche. I asked the scoopers what sauce they would recommend, because Milkjam has an absolutely baller selection of  sauces .  The scoopers suggested salted caramel, and I was a liiiiiiiitle  disappointed they didn't suggest something more adventurous like Szechuan Berry or Spicy Honey, but I shouldn't have doubted them, the Salted Caramel went perfectly with the Milkjam ice cream. ...

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams St. Louis Scoop Shop

Image
Lizzy got back from Boston on Wednesday, so we obviously planned an ice cream outing for the next day.  We decided on Jeni's.  Lizzy has been to the scoop shop, but I have not.  In fact, I have never had Jeni's ice cream.  The flavors available in stores near me are just not that exciting, so I've never picked up a pint.  Needless to say, I was pretty excited to try this brand for the first time. Lizzy and I both went with their medium size, which allows you to try 3 flavors.  I chose Pistachio and Honey, Wildberry Lavender, Sweet Potato Pecan Praline.  I'll be honest.  I wasn't expecting to love these flavors as much as I did.  I've heard rumblings that Jeni's is good but overrated, but I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors I picked.  Maybe not enough to buy a $10 pint, but the point is moot since we went to the scoop shop! I'll review these in order of least loved to most loved.  First up, Sweet Potato Pecan Praline.  This is...

Ben and Jerry's Make Your Own Core Sundae

Image
Because I want to be exactly like Lizzy in every aspect of my life, I also tried a Ben and Jerry's make you own core Sundae.  Lizzy reviewed a sundae she made with the hot fudge core  here .  I loved the salted caramel core when I tried B&J's new Salted Caramel Core flavor.  It was so rich and yummy. I may have had a glass of wine or three before getting ice cream.  Under normal circumstances I have a hard time deciding which flavor of ice cream to get, so under these circumstances having to decide on two flavors that would complement the salted caramel core was nearly impossible. I ended up going with the limited edition, scoop-shop-only SNL flavor Gilly's Catastrophic Crunch and retired-but-still-in-scoop-shops White Russian.  I went with these because I didn't know if I would ever get the chance to try them again! Gilly's Catastrophic Crunch is described as Chocolate and sweet cream ice creams with caramel clusters, fudge-covered almonds, an...
