Kemp's Frozen Yogurt Shop Fudge Brownie and Cookie Dough

Image
Kemps' ice creams really run the gamut of quality. Some are phenomenal (omg, their YO2 line) and some less so. Even within the Yogurt Shop line, there is a huge range.  Sadly, Yogurt Shop Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough is at the low quality end of the range.  This flavor is Chocolate and vanilla frozen yogurt with a fudge swirl, cookie dough and brownies topped with semi sweet chocolate curls. Every element of this flavor was sub par. First, can we please just do away with chocolate curls. Almost without fail they are weirdly waxy and you have to be really careful you don't spill them everywhere since they just sit on top of the ice cream. If your name is Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough, you should really, really have substantial fudge brownie and cookie dough chunks. I honestly can't recall if I got any fudge brownie chunks. I got a few cookie dough chunks, but they were SO TINY! Itsy-bitsy cookie dough spheres without much flavor. Teensy-weensy flavorless dough ...

Brownie Fudge Swirl Klondike Bar

Image
What is wrong with me that I avoided Klondike bars for so long?! The third installment of the fall Klondike Bar-a-thon is Brownie Fudge Swirl. From the Klondike Bar website: Fudge brownie swirls ribboned through a creamy chocolate ice cream - all covered in a thick milk-chocolatey coating. It's time to score some serious brownie points with your taste buds. This gooey hunk of frozen fudgey flawlessness is a chocolate lover's dream - and for good reason. With this much chocolate ice cream, you owe it to yourself to make your ice cream dreams come true. While the Klondike bar's higher-than-average ice cream-to-coating ration worked against the the Original and Dark Chocolate treats, the format is perfect for the Brownie Fudge Swirl bars. The higher ice cream content lets the mix-ins shine. The pure, creamy, milky chocolate of the chocolate ice cream is the primary feature of the first bite. As you keep eating, you start to notice the richer, darker chocolat...

Talenti Fudge Brownie

Image
Sometimes all you need is chocolate gelato and fudge brownie to make the world a better place.  On Tuesday, two days before leaving for Utah, I found myself at Target trying to pick out the one last ice cream I would eat before leaving.  In other words, I found myself having a crisis.  I never buy a single pint of ice cream at a time.  I knew I would be coming back home eventually, and I knew that I   could buy ice cream in Utah, but somehow the task of picking one single flavor was completely overwhelming.  I finally laid eyes on Talenti Fudge Brownie and realized that if you are in crisis, chocolate ice cream is always the answer. Talenti's stellar flavor destcription author describes Fudge Brownie as Brownies.  There are real, gooey, perfect brownies blended into our extra-dark-chocolate gelato.  Also, we added a swirl of rich, dark fudge because we're really into swirls of fudge right now. I, sadly, had forgotten how much I enjoy T...

Ben and Jerry's Empower Mint

Image
A while back Ben Cohen of Ben and Jerry's fame created the ice cream flavor Bernie's Yearning in support of Vermont Senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.  The flavor was mint ice cream with a disk of chocolate covering the top meant to represent the wealth disparity between the wealthiest 1% of the nation and the rest of the county.  The idea is that you break up the hunk of chocolate into smaller pieces and distribute it throughout the pint, representing a redistribution of wealth!  This was not an official product, as a company can't endorse a presidential candidate, but Ben and Jerry, the people, not the company did have a give away of 50 pints of this flavor. Lizzy entered the drawing, but unfortunately wasn't selected. Ben and Jerry's new flavor, Empower Mint, pays tribute to the social mission of Bernie's Yearning.  This flavor is Peppermint ice cream with fudge brownies and fudge swirls. The blurb on the side of the pint re...

Talenti Fudge Brownie Gelato

Image
Last week my roommate informed me a grocery store in downtown Iowa City, John's Grocery, was having a sale on Talenti Gelato. Obviously I made my way over to check it out.  This grocery store was quite teeny tiny, and they didn't have the biggest Talenti selection; however, they had a couple of flavors I haven't tried before. One of the flavors was obviously Fudge Brownie. Also, the sale was pretty good, I got two pints of Talenti Gelato for $7! At other grocery stores you can pay between four and five dollars for Talenti. The description of this flavor on the website reads Brownies. There are real, gooey, perfect brownies blended into our extra-dark-chocolate gelato. Also, we added a swirl of rich, dark fudge because we're really into swirls of fudge right now. First, I want to hang out with the person who writes the descriptions of Talenti flavors. Something about the description strikes me as particularly hilarious. But you know, sometimes I also am reall...
