Coconut Bliss Coconut Almond in Chocolate Bars

Image
So you may remember that a looong time ago I received two coupons for free Coconut Bliss products. I used one of them to buy a pint of the cappuccino ice cream and used the other to buy these bars. They've been sitting in my freezer quite along time, but I'm slowly and surely making my way through my ice cream stock and got to these guys this past week. I definitely don't eat as many ice cream bars and other treats as I should, but I feel like summer is the perfect time for the. So I was excited to try this vegan version of a classic summer treat. Now I just need to go play in a sprinkler and I'll be set. The description of these bars is Creamy coconut with an almond crunch, dipped in organic fair trade chocolate . Man, this is what coconut milk ice cream was made for. This is basically like an almond joy in vegan ice cream form. The chocolate was amazing, it was dark, but still smooth. However, it could have been a little thicker. There was a touch of vanil...

Luna & Larry's Organic Coconut Bliss Ginger Cookie Caramel

Image
Thank goodness for hippie California. I'm traveling right now, and needed some groceries, so stopped by the grocery store closest to where I'm staying. The ice cream selection wasn't necessarily that exciting in this store, except for the Coconut Bliss selection!  They had a whole, long row of Coconut Bliss flavors, and a bunch I had never seen before. Only in California can you find great beaches, a bunch of unvaccinated children, and lots of vegan ice cream options. What a fabulous combination. and by fabulous I mean beaches and ice cream are great and unvaccinated children terrify me. After agonizing over the decision for a while, I picked the Ginger Cookie Caramel flavor, because I had heard good things about it and I love ginger cookies. This flavor is described as Spicy Cookies and Creamy Caramel in Rich Vanilla . The first look upon opening the pint was pretty WOW. I saw SEVEN different cookies chunks and a light, this caramel swirl. My first bite tasted ...

Luna & Larry's Organic Coconut Bliss Cappuccino

I am super excited to write this review. Months ago I had my first flavor from Luna & Larry's and loved it. After I wrote my review about the flavor, I was contacted by someone form Luna & Larry's and they sent me two coupons for free Luna & Larry's products. As soon as the coupons arrived I rushed right out and used one to get this pint for free! However, a few days later I was bombarded with a shipment of New Orleans ice cream. In the midst of trying those flavors, trying the new Ben & Jerry's and Talenti's, this flavor got a bit lost in the back of my freezer. But, when I finally got around to trying this flavor, I loved it! This flavor is a plain cappuccino flavored base. Upon first bite, I tasted coconut a bit more than coffee. But as I kept eating the coconut flavor faded a bit and the coffee flavor got stronger. In total my friend, James, explained the flavor experience best when he said it tasted like a coconut flavored coffee. Not the ...

New-to-Me Brand Alert! Luna & Larry's Organic Coconut Bliss Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge

What an age we live in. When I was growing up, being vegan or lactose intolerant meant eating sorbet or no frozen desserts at all. And now, I am about to review a fabulous non-dairy ice cream on the same day Ben & Jerry's has released their long-anticipated non-dairy line of ice creams. A long time ago Madeline reviewed Luna and Larry's Chocolate Walnut Brownie and loved it. I'm personally a huge supported of non-dairy ice creams and its about time I got around to reviewing a Luna and Larry flavor. Luna and Larry, based in Eugene, Oregon, are exactly the kind of natural food hippies you want making your dairy free ice cream. According to the adorable story book on their website (which you can also download as a coloring book to color yourself), the pair loved ice cream, but were worried about the environmental impacts of the dairy industry. However, they thought soy and rice milk ice creams were pretty gross, and I have to agree. So in 2004 they took a trip to a G...

Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss: Chocolate Walnut Brownie

I think this is my first non-dairy blog post!  Huzzah! One of my mom's friends can't have dairy, and thought she would have to live without chocolate ice cream forever, but boy did she have another think coming!  I initially wanted to review a pint of SoDelicious because that is offered in a lot of 'normal' stores like Wal-Mart and such, but when I stopped by Whole Foods, there were no non-plain SoDelicious flavors.  I really wanted to show that there were fancy, chocolatey flavors of non-dairy ice cream out there, so I decided on a pint of Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss Chocolate Walnut Brownie flavor.  The website and pint both don't have a flavor description, but this is chocolate (coconut milk) ice cream with chunks of walnut and chunks of brownie. Not only is this dessert non-dairy, it is also gluten and soy free! Initially I was a bit apprehensive as I have not liked coconut based ice cream in the past as it often tastes too much like coconu...
