Edy's Peanut Butter Pie Frozen Custard

Image
After thoroughly enjoying Edy's Salted Caramel Pretzel Frozen Custard, I thought I would give this relatively new line a third shot. So far I have had one bad experience, with the Chocolate Malt flavor, and one good one. This flavor can serve as the tie breaker! I want to start by telling you there is no description of this flavor anywhere on the container. However, on the Edy's website, the description reads A rich and creamy blend of sweet cream frozen custard with plenty of chocolate cookie pieces and peanut butter swirls in every bite . When I first ate this flavor, I assumed the base was vanilla. It is odd that vanilla is considered our default neutral base, when vanilla is a flavored ice cream, as opposed to sweet cream. As I was eating this flavor, there was something different about it compared to what I was expecting it to taste like. Something I couldn't quite put my finger on. When I looked on the Edy's website for the description, and found thi...

Edy's Peanut Butter Pie Frozen Custard

I was obviously excited when Edy's announced they were making a new frozen custard line, but my experience with their  chocolate malt  flavor was less than stellar.  The flavor was not great, but the custardiness was good enough that I wanted to try another flavor.  On a recent trip to Target I picked up the Peanut Butter Pie flavor.  On Edy's website this is described as A rich and creamy blend of sweet cream frozen custard with plenty of chocolate cookie pieces and peanut butter swirl in every bite. The first flavor I noticed was a very sweet peanut butter, reminiscent of peanut butter pie.  Imagine that!  I couldn't really tell that the base was sweet cream flavor, but this wasn't a bad thing. ...

Haagen-Dazs Limited Edition Peanut Butter Pie

Peanut Butter Pie is one of my favorite (non ice cream!) desserts ever because it is delicious and soooo easy to make.  If you're really lazy you just buy a pre-made graham cracker crust, mix together peanut butter, sugar, cream cheese, etc... pour it in and stick it in the fridge for a couple hours.  My secret to good peanut butter pie is to use 1.5 to 2 times as much peanut butter as the recipe actually calls for. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I saw this beauty pop on the grocery store shelves around Christmas of 2012 and immediately grabbed a pint.  I remember being really disappointed by that flavor of ice cream and thinking it didn't taste anything like peanut butter pie.  Because of that I had avoided picking up another pint until now.  I decided I should grab one and put it on the blog before it was gone forever. This ice cream is described as Inspired by a favorite family recipe, our Peanut Butter Pie Ice Cream is made with ribbon...
