Ben and Jerry's Save Our Swirled

Ben and Jerry's has a reputation as a socially and environmentally conscious company, and their recent partnership with Avaaz is no different.  They have partnered with Avaaz to work toward Climate Justice and clean energy.  You can find more info here. The new flavor SOS (Save our Swirled) was produced in conjunction with this new initiative.  It is

Raspberry ice cream with marshmallow and raspberry swirls and dark & white fudge ice cream cones.

I really really really like this ice cream.  It was a tasty flavor with just enough weirdness to make it great.

The raspberry base was just faaaaaabulous! Ben and Jerry's should make more flavors with this base immediately.  It was very sweet with just enough tartness to keep it from being cloying.  There was also a bit of a sweet cream element going on here.  Rather than trying to hide the cream, ben and Jerry's played it up and made it support the raspberry.

At first I thought it would be weird or a bit of an overkill to have a raspberry swirl in raspberry ice cream, but it was not. It was perfection. The base was a more mellow raspberry, and the raspberry swirl gave intense punches of concentrated, juicy, raspberry goodness.  The swirl was very thick.  It was more tart than sweet with a full-bodied flavor.

The marshmallow swirl was not as in-your-face as the raspberry. I tasted it more at the beginning of my bowl, and it faded to the background as I kept eating. It was pretty much the texture and taste of Marshmallow Fluff.  Which is literally the greatest thing ever.  In fact, dearest reader, hang tight for a moment I'm going to run to the grocery store to pick some up.

Ok I'm back.  The last element of this ice cream is the dark and white fudge ice cream cones.  What whimsy! These were literally little, fudge ice cream cones.  The dark fudge was the cone and the white fudge was the ice cream.  These were Ben and Jerry's, typical, high-quality fudge.  Also, they were mini ice cream cones.

Ugh, sorry. I couldn't not.
