Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie

I picked this flavor up at the grocery store the other week for a few reasons. First, I recently had another Ben & Jerry's flavor with brownies, the Wal-Mart exclusive, Peanut Butter Brownie Sundae, and I was reminded of how amazing Ben & Jerry's brownies are. Second, a while back after tweeting a picture of the Ashbury Track Club's Ben & Jerry's tower, someone tweeted at Big Muddy, "Chocolate fudge brownie ice cream...love it..." To be honest, when I saw this tweet, I was thinking, of all the flavors in the tower to be excited about, Chocolate fudge brownie? But then again, even though it might not be the most exciting flavor, it is a classic and it has been ages since I've last had it. The third reason I picked it up is because Gerbe's doesn't have a very large ice cream selection.

This flavor is described as Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge Brownies

The lack of brownies visible when first opening this pint was not at all indicative of the amount of brownie in the pint.

How simple, how classic and how delicious. Ben and Jerry's chocolate base is really good. It is a rich chocolate while still being very milky and sweet. I also think it may have a bit more air in it that other Ben & Jerry's bases, like peanut butter and vanilla, specifically. Either way, it is wonderfully soft. The brownies, as I have said before, were very delicious. These brownies are extremely dense and moist and chewy. In this flavor they were also quite abundant and large. You would have to try really hard to get a bite with no brownies in it and the chunks of brownie were so big that quite a few bites seemed like they were just brownie.

Another thing about this flavor that was really awesome was what happened if you let it get a bit melty. The melty ice cream seeped into the nooks and crannies in the brownies, making it sort of like dipping brownies in really thick, really cold, chocolatey milk. Though even when it wasn't melty the brownies got a bit infused with the chocolate ice cream.

This is about the average size of a brownie chunk in this flavor.

Random facts about this flavor: It was introduced in 1986, so yes it is older than Cherry Garcia and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
It features Greyston Bakery Brownies. Read about this awesome company in my post about Peanut Butter Brownie Sundae.
