Ben and Jerry's Everything But the ...

This.  This is Ben and Jerry's at their absolute finest.  You have heard Lizzy and me talk about the signature Ben and Jerry's chunk in the past, and if you want a quintessential, chunk-tastic Ben and Jerry's experience, look no further than Everything But the ...  I mean, just look at the picture below.

This ice cream is described as

A collision of chocolate & vanilla ice cream mixed with peanut butter cups, fudge-covered toffee pieces, white chocolatey chunks and fudge-covered almonds.

The chocolate/vanilla combo is great (gotta love the swirl).  I think a totally chocolate base would make this ice cream too overwhelming, but a totally vanilla base would be overwhelmed by all the mix-ins.  The swirl gives the mix-ins a stage upon which they shine.

This ice cream's theme song is a slightly modified version of Elvis Presley's 'Burning Love.'  "I'm just a chunk, a chunk of burning love."  Shown above: a peanut butter cup and a white chocolate chunk.

There are some haters out there who will say that there is too much going on in the mix-in department, too much junk in the trunk.  (Whatcha gonna do, haters gonna hate!) They are wrong and have either never tried this ice cream or their sole purpose in life is to make the world a sad and terrible place.  As you can see from the above picture, the mix-ins are both large and abundant.  In a previous post here, Lizzy described the 'Archaeological Dig' method of eating ice cream.  That is really the only way to eat this ice cream.  There are so many mix-ins that your spoon doesn't go far before hitting a chocolaty road block.  You kind of have to scoop out around the mix-ins and then scoop one up!

Look at dat swirl!  Also, the awesome bowl is a gift from my awesome aunt and uncle who brought it back from their trip to Vietnam!  It's so pretty!

Even though there are so many different types of mix-ins, you tend to get exactly one per bite.  This is actually my favorite part about the ice cream because it is like you have four different pints of ice cream in one: one with peanut butter cups, one with toffee, one with white chocolate, and one with almonds.  This ratio of one mix-in per bite also prevents the mix-ins from becoming too overwhelming.
