Til The Cows Come Home: Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Jar

Not long ago I tried a flavor from the new-ish HyVee line, Til the Cows Come Home, and wasn't super impressed. But I've heard such good things about the line in general, I decided to try another flavor. At my local HyVee the other day I was browsing the flavors and my jaw almost dropped to the floor when a saw the description for the flavor, Who Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar:

Cookies & cream ice cream with fudge and whipped cream flavored revels.

Shut the front door HyVee, who even knew you could make cookies and cream more exciting?  And without just making it a different flavor than cookies and cream (I'm thinking B&J Milk and Cookies as an example. Not that Milk and Cookies is bad, but it's just not a cookies and cream flavor). I guess Til The Cows Come Home figured out how to do just that.

Side note: why is the name of this brand so long and why are all the names of their flavors so long?

Side note 2: why are some ice cream companies using the word "revel" instead of swirl?? What does it mean???

Brand and flavor names and description weirdness aside, how was this flavor? Well I think this opening shot speaks for itself!

Holy moly, look at all that fudge. The sheer quantity of the fudge and whipped cream revels were the best part of this pint. You seriously cannot ask for improvement in this department. However, I would say the fudge revel was actually a bit more like chocolate sauce, in flavor and texture. It was a little thin and not super rich to call itself fudge. The whipped cream revel, on the other hand, was bomb. It was like a cross between buttercream frosting and whipped cream. It really brought more umph to the cream side of the cookies and cream equation than you get in a standard cookies and cream flavor.

And while there was plenty of both sauces, they were weirdly only around the sides of the pint. A minor complaint, but still odd. Because of this there were some big spoonfuls of only base with no swirl. The base was a pretty standard cookies and cream. There were lots of cookie chunks of a variety of sizes. Some pretty big, but also a lot of cookie dust and crumbs.

All in all, this flavor was surprising and unique! I enjoyed it and loved seeing some creative on a classic flavor. šŸ¦šŸ¦šŸ¦.5/4 cones!
