Blue Bunny Bunny Tracks

Golly gee, Madeline has been doing way better going through all of the revamped Blue Bunny flavors than I have. I've been wanting to try some of these flavors for a while, but wasn't feeling very inspired by any of the flavors I'd seen in stores. But when I read the description for Bunny Tracks, I got pretty excited and decided it was time to give you all, Dearest Readers, Lizzy's first Blue Bunny review. Also sorry I fail as an Iowan and haven't reviewed any Blue Bunny yet.

This flavor is described as Vanilla flavored ice cream with caramel and fudge swirls, chocolatey covered peanuts, and peanut butter filled chocolatey bunnies.

First, a couple of color related questions: Why is the bunny blue? Why is this ice cream so white?

But actually this ice cream was so white I felt like I was eating printer paper. Color aside, this wasn't a fabulous vanilla base. It tasted like the vanilla ice cream in the drumstick you get from the ice cream truck. In fact, this ice cream as a whole reminded me very much of drumsticks. The chocolate covered peanuts were a nice touch. They added a fun crunch and really amped up the peanut flavor of the pint. The peanut butter filled chocolate bunnies were chocolatier than they were peanuty, so the combo of the peanut and peanut butter was solid. The peanut butter was also quite sweet, so the real peanuts helped give a balance there, too. There were enough of the little chunks that you got about one per bite.

Last but not least, the swirls. The fudge swirl was definitely better than the caramel. It was the solid as opposed to liquid kind of fudge swirl and had a very rich flavor. The caramel, on the other hand, was just okay. It was a great texture, thick and gooey, but it could have been more complex. It was simply very sweet. It was also kind of strange that the caramel was only on the sides of the pint. Why has that been such a common problem for ice creams I've been eating as of late?

Overall, this wasn't the highest quality ingredients, but it had a fun factor. I was worried all of the elements wouldn't go together well, but somehow it all worked! šŸ¦šŸ¦.5/4 cones.
